DIY: pot holder garland.

Things you need:
Ribbon (any color you want, in this case red)
Thread (to match your pot holders, mine is red)
Scissors
Sewing machine
Crotchet pot holders (any shape will work for this, I chose circular, but squares would also look cute to fold them into triangles)

Step 1:
Lay out pot holders,

I chose 6 medium sized circle pot holders, but depending on how long or short you want your garland you could use bigger or smaller ones.

Take your ribbon and run in along the middle of one of your pot holders,


its important if you don't know exactly how long you want your garland to NOT cut your ribbon until after you are finished. If you measured lets say a window you want to hang it on and know how long you want it than feel free to cut your ribbon. Either way be sure to leave a good half a foot of excess ribbon on both sides of your garland for easy hanging.

After the ribbon is in place, fold the pot holder in half.

Step 2:
Take your folded pot holder with ribbon in it to your sewing machine. Place pot holder on sewing machine and be sure your ribbon matches up with the folded pot holder hold it down (or pin it down) so it doesn't move while you are sewing.




I used a basic single stitch, but you could also use a double stitch or even a zig-zag if you want to spice it up a little :)

Step 3:
Repeat step 2 five more times until your garland is completely finished. Cut off all excess threads and ribbon from other side. Your garland is now ready for hanging!


TADA! I hung my garland on our window in the living room. I want to make one for my kitchen. I think for my kitchen I will try and use square ones, I bet they would look so cute as little triangles.
